You seem to be jumping ahead in the time line. The monolith fell over in 2061: Odyssey Three, not 2003: The Forgotten Odyssey. However I am welling to forgive this error and hope everything else stay on track with this possible time line: 2010, The monolith turns the third planet into a star. 2061, A forbidden landing on a moon of the Third planet. 3001, The third planet turns back into a planet after the monoliths controllers discover that nothing evolved on the third planets moon.

I have to admit not being too familar with the books - I have 2061, but I don't remember if I read all of it or not, and I've never read 3001. So my Space Odyssey continuity is probably more than a little off. Smile

But on the subject of the Lucifer equivalent in V3's system, the second planet is a lot more like Jupiter than the third planet is, so that'd probably be the one to turn into a star.

I'm confused. What books are you guys referencing?

Arthur C. Clarke's "2001: A Space Odyssey" and its sequels.

Yeah, I've only read the first one, none of the sequels, although I think I've got 2010 lying around somewhere (it's almost time to read it!). But I want to see the rumormongers throw a bone or tool or something into the sky without arms! I just can't imagine how these guys do anything, unless there's more to their undersides than meets the eye.

I don't remember that happening in 3001. I read all the books, but I remember the monoliths being destroyed in the last book, but not Jupiter being turned back into a planet.
